Hot Galleys, BookExpo Day 2

by Ron Hogan

Charles McCarry brings back his popular fictional spy Paul Christopher in Old Boys. Keep in mind that Nancy Pearl, Seattle librarian turned action figure, calls his Shelley's Heart one of the greatest political novels.

Arthur Phillips, the author of Prague, is back with The Egyptologist, which looks like it could be damn good fun.

Seconds of Pleasure collects the short fiction of director/playwright Neil LaBute, including the story "Grand Slam" (really only for Nerve subscribers, but at least you can read a paragraph).

Blink: the return of Malcolm Gladwell.

The Inner Circle: T.C. Boyle novelizes the life of Alfred Kinsey.

"Danuta de Rhodes" (a.k.a. Dan Rhodes) has produced something I can't even begin to wrap my head around yet, considering how much red wine I've had at various receptions, as Canongate brings us The Little White Car.

Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez is back with her second novel, Playing With Boys, the galley just about everybody envied me for having, including Valdes-Rodriguez herself, when I met her at the Harlequin booth (where she dropped by to sign a few copies of Girls' Night In, to which she's contributed a story).
