Listen, I'm Available, and I Work Fast

by Ron Hogan

J.M. Barrie left the rights to Peter Pan to the Great Ormond Street children's hospital in London, and as the centennial of the character's creation approaches, the estate wants a sequel. But J.K. Rowling's got Potter on the brain, Philip Pullman can't see much great coming out of what essentially boils down to a work for hire project. For all you aspiring writers who'd still take a crack at the job, though, don't build up your hopes just yet: the only way to enter consideration is if your publisher or agent nominates you.
