Page Six: Rupert Murdoch's #1 Advertorial Space

by Ron Hogan

The lead item in today's Page Six is a long anecdote about how Dave Navarro, who used to be in a band, has made up with his publisher, Judith Regan, and will finally allow his ghostwritten memoir to see the light of day. Lots and lots of quotes from Ms. Regan--and not a word to educate readers about the fact that ReganBooks is a division of HarperCollins, which happens to be owned by the same media conglomerate that owns the New York Post. Because that sort of disclosure is only required of real journalists, like the folks at 60 Minutes when they feature Simon & Schuster authors; apparently gossipmongers don't have to worry about journalistic ethics. (Then again, given the "we hear" item also in today's column, apparently they do have to worry about seeing dead people all the time...)
