Yo, Adrian!

I've always had the self-awareness to consider not having read the Adrian Mole novels a substantial gap in my cultural literacy. So I can't say that I entirely get this profile of Sue Townsend in The Independent, but the emotional register of the passages dealing with Townsend's gradual loss of sight is easily grasped. On the other hand, if Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction is really the end of the series, maybe I will find the courage to plow my way through early next year, when The Karen Black Project is behind me...
