Will the Last Book To Be Sold at Wal-Mart
Please Bring the Flag?

by Ron Hogan

Or; I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts...

Seriously, what's up with Wal-Mart's book section lately? As CNN/Money reports, just a week after sweeping the Daily Show's America off its shelves because it had nekkid pictures of the Supreme Court justices, the store sent George Carlin's latest back because...well, because it's George Carlin, and it's called When Will Jesus Bring the Porkchops? What else do I have to say, really?

Except that CNN seems to be following Sara Nelson's lead, to the point where they copy her New York Post item practically word for word: in the first graf in which it's noticeable, the only difference is that CNN calls Carlin "popular for his subversive comedy" while Nelson only calls him "known," and from there on, it's basically the same article with the occasional insert along the lines of "the paper said." Not that I want to stir up any bad blood between Time Warner and News Corp., but that's just not right.
