Or "Almost Like Newspaper Columns,"
But If We Said That, All Hell Might Break Loose

by Ron Hogan

Honestly, I'm not sure what my reaction to the NYT story about bloggers with book deals is yet: gut-wrenching agony at yet another story about a semi-exotic class of beings that "have their own Web sites, on which they write frequently updated posts, almost like online diaries," or seething frustration that my book deal wasn't mentioned, dammit. But then I noticed that the article is about two-thirds focused on female bloggers, and only two of the three men they mention actually have book deals--so far, Instapundit only has an agent. Frankly, that angle makes me wonder if there's maybe not a story more interesting than "bloggers with book deals," which would be "blogging offers new inroad to women writers." And maybe I'll write that piece myself, or maybe some journalist will crib it from me first...

90% of all Bloggers are under 30?

I have interviewed the wrong crowd - I had 6 of 21 30 and under.

You know they're after us, man. Five bucks on the NYT Mag in a month's time.
