Actually, I'm Just Happy to See You...

by Ron Hogan

New Yorkers who work in the vicinity of Bryant Park will be in luck today--the Academy of American Poets will be in the park giving away free poetry books from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. or the last book is in a citizen's hands. You can also pick up the spooky National Poetry Month poster designed by Chip Kidd. It's the Academy's way of celebrating Poem in Your Pocket Day, "when New Yorkers are encouraged to carry a poem in their pockets throughout the day to share with friends, family, and colleagues." (Mrs. Beatrice, for example, has a Franz Wright poem in her wallet.)
