clique movie mania

What is the most hotly anticipated page-to-screen property right now? If we gave you ten guesses, we're pretty sure you wouldn't come up with "The Clique," Lisi Harrison's series about a pack of girls who attend an exclusive private school in Westchester County, NY. But the endless fascination that teen girls have with these books, the sheer  yearning and longing that's out there to see the novels' heroines on screen--or even better--to BE CAST as one of those teen heroines--has been bubbling out there for months. Harrison herself posted a message on her website (which is currently down, so we won't link there) stating that she's received literally THOUSANDS of emails asking when the auditions will be, where, when the movie's coming out, etc...no concrete response is given.

To mark today's publication of The Clique #7: It's Not Easy Being Mean, Bookburger has been running a contest asking for fans to give their dream cast to play the girls in the eventual movie. Suggestions run the gamut from "me" to Penelope Cruz ("she's like 50!" one commenter said, outraged). It's garnered the biggest response we've ever had to a post--300 comments and counting.
