I Always Wanted to Explode Up Out of the Floor

by Scott

Or, maybe drop down from the lights. Either way, I've always prefered arena rock style introductions. Unfortunately, pyrotechnics don't go very well with stacks of old books so I usually have to quash my Kiss-inspired theatrics. So I"ll simply say hello.

I'm honored that Ron thought enough of my humble Slushpile.net to invite me to guest blog here at Beatrice. Check out the 'pile if you're hankering for publishing industry news, tips, book reviews, and general writerly rantings and ravings.

Right now, I'm just settling into Joe Meno's The Boy Detective Fails. I'm running a bit behind on this one since it was released in early September but I kept setting aside until I had time to really savor it. I don't know how involved Meno is in the book design of this titles, but damn, this guy gets some sweet looking books. Boy Detective comes with a decoder ring and his story collection, Bluebirds Used to Croon in the Choir is a hip looking text in its own right. It's nice to see books that look as good as they read.

Be sure to check out this interview with Meno that MBToolBox posted last week.
